Hike some of the Azores most famous active volcanoes and try to discover our most famous crater lakes and waterfalls. Be involved in a pure nature experience in which you can explore our fantastic trails and afterwards relax in one of Sao Miguel’s natural thermal pools such as in Furnas. This is a complete package for those who want to hike and simply enjoy nature!

Itinerary

Day 1-Arrival

Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Free day.

Day 2-Hiking Tour Moinho do Felix (FD) Extension: 5.5 Km/3.42 miles |Level: Easy |Duration:5:30 hours

A lovely hike along waterfalls that meet the coastal line, passing thru watermills from where once flour fed the most of the island and iconic fountains that granted water to the communities.

Day 3-Van Tour Furnas (FD) Duration: 8 hours

This day is to rest your legs and just have a few walking during this tour to Furnas. The valley of Furnas is one of the largest thermal hydropolis in the world, rich in iron, sulphur waters that sprout a bit everywhere to be tasted and have the experience of touch (always follow the guide recommendations, do not touch boiling water or mud). There's a trail of gold left behind from the rusty streams, a gothic chapel by the lake, a constant whisper from the fumeroles and geysers, and the most magnificent botanical Garden as part of this tour. The famous cozido das Furnas, a meal cooked underground by the heat of the volcano, is included. This meal consists in a variety of vegetables and meats.

Day 4-Hiking Lagoa do Fogo – Full day Extension: 11 Km/6.84 miles |Level: Medium |Duration: 7 hours

A lake born from fire with astonishing sights of an untouchable nature. The endemic vegetation and the apparentely unused trails that will take you thru old plant's ruins, convents, natutal swimiming pools and the charming beaches.

Day 5- Hiking Salto do Cabrito (HD) Extension: 4 Km/2.49 miles |Level: Medium |Duration: 3.5 hours

A day around sulphurous waters, the intense smell from the fertile vegetation will make you feel part of the surrounding nature : flowers, vines, tubers and thick carpets of moss. From the 1st electrical plant in the island, dating the 19th century, to the clear pits where you can bath in, from the bubbling waterfalls to leafy branches providing shade, from iron suspended bridges over streams and small rays of lights, will all be the highlights of this hike day.

Day 6-Hiking Tour Serra Devassa & Nascentes do canario (FD) Extension: 10.4 Km/6.46 miles |Level: Easy |Duration: 7hours

This is a beautiful hike to the volcanic complex of Sete Cidades will take you thru a path of serenity and beauty of the lakes, aqueducts and waterfalls.

Day 7- Hiking Tour Faial da Terra & Van tour to Nordeste (FD) Extension: 4.5 km/2.79 miles | Level: Easy | Duration: 7:30hours

On this day, there's a hike and a van tour to relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape of this side of the island. Starting with a hike thru a hidden settlement in the mountain and the waterfall Salto do prego. A view over the old whalers harbor and the colorful small boats and end at Ponta do Sossego. And return to the hotel.

Day 8-Free day

Time to take off those hiking shoes and clothes, it's your free to visit the city.

Day 9-Free day

Enjoy this last day to rest and last minute shoppings.

Day 10-Departure

Transfer from the hotel to the airport and departure.

Activities are subject to weather conditions therefore the order of the itinerary may be altered.
Two half days activities can be combined in on full day according to availabilities.
Bring comfortable light clothes, sweater, raincoat, walking boots or shoes, swimming suit and towel, hat, sunblock, backpack and bottle of water to refill.

We don't book Seat Assignments. This service has an extra cost and needs to be done by the client with the airline directly after the tickets have been issued.

Dates shown are for tour land departure. If you are taking an overnight flight to reach the tour departure city plan to book your flight one day earlier than date shown on table
Rates do include inter island Airfare as per the program.
Some Triple rooms can have the 3rd person on an extra bed that may not be too comfortable for an adult.
Triple rooms with sea view are not possible at Hotel do Canal ( Superior Category). We may book a different Hotel or change booking to a Double Sea View+ 1 triple Sea view - Price supplement to be informed.

Booking your vacation

Early booking is advised. Availability of accommodations and inter-island flight is limited especially in summer months
If hotels named in itinerary are not available at time of booking, alternate similar same rating properties will be confirmed, and subject to new quote.
Order of islands visited may need to be altered due to flight schedule changes
Unless otherwise indicated, sightseeing tours are by private car with English speaking driver. Other languages are available upon request
Quotations with different hotels have a non refundable deposit of $50. Deposit will be credited towards final booking price

Booking your Vacation with Air

International airfare for this package is additional to price shown on Rates table. Departure cities are limited to those serviced by SATA International (Azores Airlines)

A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of $350 per person per vacation is required to book and hold space for you
Final payment is due 45 days before departure
Option to pay full price up front is available

Cancellation Policy - Land Portion

$350 per person if canceled up to 45 days from day of departure
25% of total reservation if canceled 15 to 45 days from day of departure
50% of reservation if canceled 7 to 14 days from day of departure
No refunds if canceled less than 7 days or less from date of departure

Booking Changes

Ponta Delgada - Hotel Ponta Delgada

Hotel Ponta Delgada is centrally located and only a 10-minute drive from the airport. Hotel Ponta Delgada features a family ambiance and comfortable furnishings. It features an indoor pool.

Air-conditioned rooms all open out on to a private balcony and are fitted with double-glass windows. All rooms include a TV set with cable channels and private bathrooms with walk-in shower or bathtub. Free WiFi access is available in all areas of the hotel.

The Ponta Delgada’s Baco Restaurant offers authentic cuisine from the Azores. The hotel’s bar has an esplanade, where guests can enjoy a refreshing drink or cocktail.
