6 days, 5 nights - Enjoy your holidays and learn about one of the most beautiful islands of the Azores - Sao Miguel. On this private guided Tour, our guide will take your small group through the History, Fauna and Flora of this island. The package includes hotel, breakfast, sightseeing, 5 meals and transfers. Minimum of 4 required, maximum 15 persons.
Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrival to Sao Miguel and Half day Fire Lake
The guide will welcome you at the airport and take to the hotel*.
Early afternoon, meet your guide at the lobby for a Half day Tour Fire Lake, located in the center of island, during the tour there will be some stops at the most important viewpoints, visit "Caldeira Velha". Stop in Ribeira Grande City, small walk and liquor tasting. Return to Ponta Delgada and check-in at the hotel.
The guide will meet you again at the lobby for dinner at a local Restaurant.
Note: *Depending on the arrival flight time, this tour can be moved to the last day.
Day 2 - Full day City tour and Sete cidades
Meet your guide at the hotel lobby for a city tour Ponta Delgada, the island Capital.
During this tour, you'll experience the local life with a visit to the Farmers Market, Sao Sebastiao Church, Portas da Cidade ( the City Doors), historic Center, Santuario da Esperanca ( Esperanca Sanctuary) followed by a minivan trip to Sete Cidades ( the Twin Lakes), one of the seven Wonders of Portugal. During this tour, you'll stop at the viewpoints of Vista do Rei and Santiago before lunch at a local Restaurant.
Return to Ponta Delgada via West, passing through several villages ending with a visit to the Pineapple plantation in Faja de Baixo, where you will learn how pineapples are grown inside the glass greenhouses.
Back to the hotel and dinner on your own.
Day 3 - Full day Nordeste
Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and tour to the oriental part of the island through the south. Stop at the famous viewpoint, Miradouro do Pisao where you'll have a view towards Caloura, continue the trip till Povoacao, a municipality located southeastern corner, where its believed to be associated with the first colonization of the island, in 1427. Before arriving to Nordeste, the least populated village, stop at the viewpoints Ponta da Madrugada and Ponta do Sossego. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Return through the North coast, visit the Natural Park Ribeira dos Caldeiroes with its beautiful waterfalls ending with a stop at Santa Iria viewpoint.
Back to the hotel and dinner on your own.
Day 4 - Full day Furnas
Meet your guide at the hotel lobby and cross the island to the North side to visit the unique Tea plantation in Europe - Cha da Gorreana. Guided visit and tea tasting. Continue the tour to Furnas, stop at Pedras do Galego viewpoint, visit to the Caldeiras and it's fantastic fumaroles and geysers.The group will have the opportunity to see taking out the famous "Cozido das Furnas" from the ground where it stood for 6 hours cooking slow. The cozido is based on several meats, sausages and vegetables. Lunch at local Restaurant. In the afternoon, visit to the Botanical Park Terra Nostra, over two hundreds year old and well known for its natural warm pool. The guide will let you have some free time to enjoy the park and/or the pool after the tour. Return to Ponta Delgada via South with a stop in Vila Franca do Campo, the 1st capital of the island.
Back to the hotel. The guide will meet you back at the lobby for a farewell dinner at a local Restaurant.
Day 5 - Leisure day
Enjoy this free day to walk around downtown.
Day 6 - Departure
The guide will meet you at the hotel for the transfer out to the Airport.
Flight back home.
